Start your 14-day journey through Sri Lanka journeying the historical ruins of Anuradhapura and the tranquil seashores of Negombo. Enjoy the lovely scenery of the Knuckles Mountain Range and Nuwara Eliya in addition to the cultural wonders of Dambulla Sigiriya and Kandy. On the second day, take a tour to Anuradhapura to see some ancient ruins of the island. The Anuradhapura bicycle tour is a great way to go sightseeing in the city. While there, check out the Buddhist statues or ‘Atamasthana’.
Next day, proceed to Polonnaruwa and commence a city tour to view the various historical sites and scenic beauties of the city. Cycling through its beautiful surroundings will also provide you with further insights into the city’s intriguing surroundings. After that, proceed to The Golden Temples also called the famous ‘Dambulla Cave Temple’.
Considered the eighth wonder of the world, Sigiriya is a compelling visit. And then, come to Kandy, and, if interested, sightsee the Sacred City including the famous Buddhist shrine referred to as the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic. Complete the scenic ascent of the famous rock fortresses, enjoying the breathtaking surroundings and ancient artwork that adorns its top ends.
Explore the famous Knuckles Mountain Range, a favourite hiking destination for tourists, on your second day in Kandy.
You can expect a wonderful drive to Nuwara Eliya, also known as ‘Little England’. The thrill will be heightened by the breathtaking beauty of the well-known Ramboda Falls, where tumbling streams meander between granite formations. Visiting a nearby tea factory will allow you to observe the intriguing Ceylon tea production process, encouraging you to try the different varieties of tea and even purchase it.
On your second day in Nuwara Eliya get ready for a fascinating trip to Horton Plains, one of the biggest concealed wonders among all the most famous highlands of Sri Lanka. Depending on the route you take, you may reach the magnificent world’s end, a precipitous edge with a spectacular drop of about 4000 feet.
See some of the most beautiful scenery en route to Ella by taking the most beautiful train route from Nanu Oya. Enjoy the magnificent views of the Ravana Waterfalls as you travel through the region. Finally, leave for Udawalawe for the night.
Once the first rays of sunlight arrive, prepare yourself to visit the Udawalawe National Park on a safari, where you’ll be welcomed by wild Asian elephants and various species of animals. To wrap up the day, go to Sinharaja.
Explore Sinharaja, the island’s prominent rainforest. You could be proven the breathtaking splendour of the tropical woodland with a skilled naturalist. You will witness the majestic trees which have lived for hundreds of years, animals which have roamed inside the woodland for many years and bugs which you’ve by no means heard of or seen before.
Having explored Sinharaja, take a drive to Galle, which has been graced with the widely recognised UNESCO World Heritage Site—Galle Dutch Fort, which had originally been built for use by the Portuguese. After that you can explore the Old Town, enriching your mind with the history of that area.
To relax, spend two peaceful days at the beach. Explore the nearby markets, take a swim in the sea or just unwind at your hotel by the shore.
Return to Colombo for your departure.
